One of my favorite parts of party planning is coming up with a goody bag. It's the final little bit of pizzazz that puts your party over the top, and a special little thank you for your friends and family so that they know how much you appreciate their attendance.
Here are a few ideas I've used in the past to create unique holders for the loot you'll send your guests away with.

Coffee Filter Bundles
This is a fun project to do with your children in preparation for a kid's birthday party. Simply mist coffee filters lightly with water and use dye-based ink pad refills to drop color onto the filters. You get a fun and funky tie-dye effect.
Once the filter is dry, punch evenly spaced holes all around the outside edge. Use a circle cutter to cut a 3" wide circle of cardstock to stabilize the bottom of your treat container. Weave ribbon, yarn, or twine through the holes, gather, fill with goodies, and then tie shut!
These are very cute when made with tan/natural-colored coffee filters, brown inks, and leather lacing. They are great for cowboy-, camping-, or other outdoor-themed parties.

Coaster Gift Boxes
These little treat boxes were inspired by the decorated coasters from My Mind's Eye. Choosing a coordinating patterned paper that is both double-sided as well as cardstock weight will make this project much easier.


For the girlfriend's treat box I used the coaster as a template to create pieces for the back and bottom. I made sure that the bottom piece had an extra four inches so that I could score it two inches from each end and fold it up to adhere behind the front and back coasters. Strips were added for the sides and a handle which is held on with flower-shaped brads. A little ribbon and a die-cut flower finish off this sweet little box. Several candies, a small candle or body lotion, or even a handmade mini album would fit nicely inside this goodie box.
The coordinating treat holder for the birthday girl is wrapped around a cellophane baggie full of candies. A piece of coordinating, double-sided patterned paper is cut 2.5 times the length of the coaster, and then folded twice to make a triangle shape. I stapled everything closed at the top and used the coordinating die-cut flower to hide the staples.

Some people call these sour cream containers. They are very simple to make, and they look great all together in a big basket or bowl.
First cut your double-sided patterned cardstock into 6" x 6" blocks. You'll get four containers from every sheet of cardstock. Roll these pieces into tubes. These will look very much like fancy toilet paper tubes at this point. I like to use a very sticky double-sided tape for this project; it holds much better than my normal adhesives.
Squish one end of the tube flat, and adhere closed with double-stick tape. Use decorative edged scissors to create a scalloped edge. Next fill your tube with goodies such as small toys, bracelets, candied almonds, or flavored nuts. Turn your tube 90 degrees and squish the other end closed in the opposite direction of the first end. Adhere shut and trim with decorative-edged scissors.
The last step is to punch holes in the ends and tie interesting ribbon to your goodie bag. I've used a wired ribbon with pearls in the center for my pretty lavender treat container.
